St. Brigid’s Cross | 2013 | Scoil Bhride, Rathcormac | 2.4m high x 2.4 wide | Cast Aluminium and Cast Bronze
This wall panel represents the image of the St. Brigid’s cross and measures 2450mm x 2450mm. The materials used are cast bronze and aluminium. The cross itself is a composite piece made up of five separate aluminium castings with a further 11 cast bronze pieces fixed to the aluminium. The background of the cross has low relief texture in the form of woven reeds. Each arm of the cross is “tied” with a band depicting zoomorphic designs of intertwined birds similar in style to those in the Book of Kells.
